Exceller descendent – Flashy Gray

Released 4/4/2013

Flashy Gray is a gorgeous three-year-old filly by Flashy Bull out of Pleasure Cat by Cat’s Career.  This Kentucky-bred beauty is currently trained by Hall of Fame Trainer, Bill Mott for West Point Thoroughbreds and Tom Keithley.   Flashy Gray was initially purchased by D.C. Morrison (who bred Rachel Alexandra) at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale.  Morrison stated that Flashy Gray was the best racehorse that he had ever owned and that she topped Rachel Alexandra’s training times at the training facility.  He further praised her for being extremely fast, having great feet, fine conformation, and for being very strong and sound.  Erin Findley, director of communications at West Point Thoroughbreds said that Flashy Gray is an impressive and versatile runner—having done very well at Keeneland on Polytrack and then winning on dirt at Churchill Downs.

The racing history for Flashy Gray includes the following:  2nd at Keeneland- MSW on 10-5-12;  1st at Churchill Downs-MSW on 11-8-12;  1st at Gulfstream Park-AlwOC on 2-10-13;  2nd at Oaklawn Park in the 3-9-13 G3 Honeybee (ridden by Mike Smith); and 2nd at Fair Grounds in the 3-30-13 G2 Fair Grounds Oaks (ridden by Junior Alvarado).  This winning horse is now headed for the G1 Kentucky Oaks on 5-3-13.
