Ready for a new start!
Handsome Jolly Jim is a handsome boy that was donated by his trainer to The Exceller Fund because he wanted to make sure this hard
trying campaigner found a good home. Over the winter this poor guy got
kicked in the head by another horse, and got his jaw broken. It seems
to be healing nicely, though there still is some infection. Due to the
injury, the horse lolls his tongue some the time. The trainer says that
the vet thinks it is simply because, with the jaw pain, he is more
comfortable that way. There doesn't seem to be any neurological damage,
the horse can move the tongue, and even retract it, with no problem.
This horse had 134 starts or more and earned
over $166,000. At 11 and after such a terrible accident , It is
commendable that the owner wants him healed and placed for free. He
seems to be progressing and has done well after being ridden a few
times. He still has a way to go, but we are confident that "Sid" will
make someone a wonderful horse!
Update October 2006: "Sid" is doing much better and is sound
under saddle. Once he knows he can trust you, he is eager to please and
needs a human to call his very own.
To increase the potential for adoptove homes, Sid was moved further
south where he can easily be relocated to Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia,
Colorado, Texas, etc.
"Sid" is currently located near Tulsa, Oklahoma.
