But Franchised, however, with a mediocre track record of 2 wins, 4
seconds, and 1 third, and earnings of under $30,000 in 3 years of racing,
and a poor produce record of unplaced or unraced foals, is typical of
many, many Thoroughbred mares, despite their pedigrees, who weren’t
worth the upkeep.
Franchised is very pretty in a European sort of way - a liver chestnut
with a light mane and tail. She has a nice personality and is very smart,
and is neither passive nor aggressive but tries to get along with everyone,
horse or human. She is a sharp mover, but her adoption potential will
be compromised by a large sarcoma on her leg. Veterinarians have recommended
leaving the sarcoma alone; and if Franny isn’t adopted she will have
a good home at New Hope Farm in Kentucky, supported by the Exceller Fund for life.
