In the fall of 2007, the three year old colt, Continuation, was in the often too familiar dilemma. Racing at Remington Park, he had sustained an injury (a non-displaced slab fracture) and was in need of immediate placement off the track or he would be sent to the local weekly livestock auction, where his future would indeed be grim.
An Oklahoma thoroughbred group stepped in to keep him from going to the auction but they needed assistance with rehabilitation and long term placement. Through The Exceller Fund, Continuation is getting the appropriate rehab and the prognosis is excellent for his recovery. Upon learning of his situation, his breeder graciously offered to sponsor him during his rehabilitation.
Continuation had surgery on his knee and has recovered well. He still has a bit of a lump on the knee at the surgery site which is quite common. He also has an old scar and thickening of a pastern from an injury as a yearling. This is apparently cosmetic as he raced with no problem from it but it is very apparent. While he is sound at this point, it has been recommended by his surgeon that he probably is not suited for jumping or eventing.
Continuation has been gelded, but he will require expert training and handling. He is quite the character and loves attention. He is turned out with a small herd, which includes two mares that are "his girls" where he is the herd manager. He has lightened in color and filled out nicely since his photo which was taken when he came off the track. In the right hands, a show ring could be in his future and we believe he will make an exceptional horse for someone with experience.
